Paving the Path to University Program

"Paving the Path to University gives you a chance that even some parents can't afford. The program gives you an opportunity. It’s a ticket to life. If it were not for your program I would not have earned such a score and I would not be able to get accepted where I want to study" (Zhanna, Class 2015 student)

Given the inadequate academic preparation in orphanages and lack of resources available to orphans, Sublimitas supports university-bound orphans in Ukraine to prepare for the university entrance exams and higher education through intensive tutoring that will enhance their academic competencies and skills.

Each student identifies three core subjects to be tested on, among which are Ukrainian language and literature, math, history, chemistry, biology, geography, and English. Orphans are driven to pursue majors that will prepare them for the careers of teachers, doctors, computer scientists, economists, hospitality personnel, among others.

Our tutors are experienced teachers who are selected outside of the orphanage school but live in close proximity to be easily accessible to orphans. Tutors provide academic and mentoring support to orphans and are compensated for their tutoring services. This intensive tutoring enables orphans to develop their academic knowledge, competencies, and skills; enhance their self-esteem and confidence; prepare for and take three university entrance exams and apply to universities to pursue their dreams; and improve their overall wellbeing through higher education, which can ultimately interrupt the cycle of social reproduction of poverty, homelessness, and incarceration among the most socio-economically marginalized population in Ukraine.
